Mutual Aid Request

I feel like such a fuckup. I lost my foodstamp card and I just need to get through this week fed. Setting a goal of 60 dollars. My cashapp and PayPal are both forwardalways21. Thanks for your support as always. Please boost.

So I ran into some trouble. I thought my debit card would be here by now too. It’s not. Can I get like 40 dollars to get to work till it comes

I helped a friend with groceries past week so I’m out of foodstamps. Currently overdrawing to get to work and eat. Plz help lol

Paying rent with this check. Keeping this post up because i don’t really have enough money to buy groceries. If anyone can find it in their heart to help me eat I’d appreciate that

renthony:

We got the car taken care of and now we need grocery money.

Hey everyone, y'all may remember a couple weeks back when my family had to raise emergency funds to get our car fixed. Well, the car is doing great now, but all the money folks very generously sent us had to go toward bills, and there’s not a lot of food left in the cabinets.

I fucking despise having to do this so often, but we’ve got four disabled adults who are staying afloat with a single night job and about twenty different side hustles in a trench coat.

If you can help with direct donations, here’s our info:

I have a major soft spot for queerplatonic rships where at least one party is actually able to be attracted to the other. Queerplatonic ships where it’s not “I would be in love with you if I was allo/gay/straight/bi/etc” but instead “I could be in love with you but I’m not because that’s not the right relationship for either us and we’re unbelievably happy with what we have.”

Queerplatonic relationships are always treated as second string to romantic relationships, with an implication of “this relationship would be romantic if it could be”, and that sucks. They’re their own relationship, completely distinct from romance, and deserve to be treated as such.

#see also: one party *is* fully in love with the other but doesn’t need them to reciprocate#because they love them for who they are not who they might otherwise be#and they know the other party loves them in return in their own way#and the point of the relationship is loving each other fully and learning to hear a thousand ways that ‘I love you’ can be said#even if romance and sex are nowhere near the picture (via @aparrotandaqrow )

sorry i know you literally just reblogged this from me but i HAD to add these tags ;_; yes yes yes

There’s a boy in you about three
years old who hasn’t learned a thing for thirty
Thousand Years. Sometime it’s a girl.

The child had to make up its mind
How to save you from death. He said things like:
“Stay home. Avoid elevators. Eat only elk.”

You live with this child, but you don’t know it.
You’re in the office, yes, but live with this boy
At night. He’s uninformed, but he does want

To save your life. And he has. Because of this boy
You survived a lot. He’s got six big ideas.
Five don’t work. Right now he’s repeating them to you.

Andrew Scott’s Hamlet: Almeida (2018)

They are also all Globe productions: MacBeth 2020, Romeo and Juliet 2009, Romeo and Juliet 2019, The Merry Wives of Windsor 2019, and The Winter’s Tale 2018.

And then finally MIT has this super cool repository of performances from around the world and some of them have videos https://globalshakespeares.mit.edu/

In my (unsuccessful) quest to find The Hollow Crown, I also found a few other of the histories, so here’s Richard II with Sean Connery, Richard II with Ian McKellan, and a stage play of Richard III

Also, if anyone has a version of the lockdown Romeo and Juliet mentioned above or the Olivier or McKellan Richard IIIs, the current links are broken and the productions sound very cool!

I might kiss you my friend for that work. I awoke from my slumber to find that the post had become popular again and there was way too much notes attached to it for me to read them all.

Hollywood Studios’ WGA Strike Endgame Is To Let Writers Go Broke Before Resuming Talks In Fall

Regardless of whether SAG-AFTRA goes on strike this week, the studios have no intention of sitting down with the Writers Guild for several more months.

“I think we’re in for a long strike, and they’re going to let it bleed out, said one industry veteran intimate with the POV of studio CEOs.

While some dismiss this as just “cynical strike talk,” studio and streamer sources around town confirm the strategy. They also confirm that the plan to grind down the guild has long been in the works for a labor cycle that all sides agree is a game-changer one way or another for Hollywood.

“It’s been agreed to for months, even before the WGA went out,” one executive said. “Nobody wanted a strike, but everybody knew this was make or break.”

Receiving positive feedback from Wall Street since the WGA went on strike May 2, Warner Bros Discovery, Apple, Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Paramount and others have become determined to “break the WGA,” as one studio exec blatantly put it.

To do so, the studios and the AMPTP believe that by October most writers will be running out of money after five months on the picket lines and no work.

“The endgame is to allow things to drag on until union members start losing their apartments and losing their houses,” a studio executive told Deadline. Acknowledging the cold-as-ice approach, several other sources reiterated the statement. One insider called it “a cruel but necessary evil.”

The studios and streamers’ next think financially strapped writers would go to WGA leadership and demand they restart talks before what could be a very cold Christmas. In that context, the studios and streamers feel they would be in a position to dictate most of the terms of any possible deal.

this is why ongoing support for strike funds is super important — taking care of each other is the only way to prevent corporations from being able to starve out their workers to force them to give in to unfair working conditions!

here’s a link to donate to the entertainment community fund, which the WGA website says will assist all entertainment workers affected by the strike. if you’ve got spare cash, definitely consider donating!

& here’s the WGA website’s list of ways to stand with writers!

Here’s an old aro meme from 2011, which was before the rise of the “Ace Discourse” around 2015 (which may have started out as backlash in response to The Trevor Project deciding to include asexual people around that time). This meme format uses an aardvark to represent aromantic people. At the time, axolotls were often used in similar memes to represent asexuals, so the aromantic aardvark was chosen as the aromantic equivalent of the asexual axolotl. Aardvarks were considered to be somewhat of a mascot for the aromantic community for some time, though they have become less popular as a symbol in recent years.

French people raised half a million. Half a fucking million for the family of the cop who murdered Nahel Merzouk, an Algerian boy.

Well we don’t know the value of an Algerian life in France but we sure now know the reward for killing one.

To all the French people who say France is not racist fuck you. To all the Europeans who pretend to be so much better than the US a huge fuck you. To all the people getting a hard on over France fuck you. To all the people who even think about mentioning how destroying public property is bad fuck you. Fuck everyone who is not revolted by what happened.

If there’s a way to donate to Nahel’s family please do it if you can.

I thought I had shared the link for Nahel’s family but apparently I didn’t do it on tumblr. Thank you for your reblog it reminds me to do it. The link to help Nahel’s family (mom and grandma) is here

The cop is now a millionaire. Becoming a millionaire less than a week after killing an Algerian teen. All that money a support for the murder. It doesn’t even matter if the government cancel the crowdfunding now because the message was sent.

Donate to the family of the actual victim if you can. The link is just in the previous reblog.
